10 Strange and Unique Bird Feeders

The basic concept of the bird feeder has remained the same since people began feeding birds. A typical bird feeder has a place that holds bird food and an opening for birds to come and eat. Thanks to such a basic design, there’s a lot of leeway for adding personality and creativity, which paves the way for some pretty amazing feeders.

Here’s a sampling of some interesting feeders we’ve come across recently.

Zombie Bird Feeder

Zombies are all the rage these days and if there ever is a zombie apocalypse, you can count on birds picking apart the guts of the undead. You can find this at the Neato Shop.

Cat Bird Feeder

There are a whole host of cat-themed bird feeders, which are unique and ironic by themselves. This one is particularly strange because it requires the birds to fly directly into the cat’s mouth! You can check out other fun feeders from Bobbo.

Google Pin

I blogged about this feeder when it first came out, but it’s worth mentioning again. This is a clever use of a bird feeder as art, since it resembles the pins found on Google Maps.

Modern Bird Feeder

Recently featured in Gizmodo, this feeder can be fully assembled without the use of any tools. It’s an interesting design, but I’m not entirely sure how stable it is.

Solar Snowman

The Snowman Feeder from No-No is already an interesting feeder, but when you add solar lights to it, it’s taken to another level. Check it out here.

Outside-Inside Outhouse Bird Feeder

The craftsmanship on this feeder is great until you realize that it’s an outhouse. To make matters more interesting, the birds eat from out of the bottom, which makes you wonder exactly what they’re eating.

Burger King Fly-Thru

This feeder is more art than anything, but artist Brian Wolter created this “fly-thru” feeder to resemble a Burger King. The sign is even lit up via solar lights.

Bird Table

Eva Solo makes a range of amazing and unique products, including several bird feeders. But this one caught our eye for the sheer simplicity. It definitely won’t keep the squirrels away though.

Dog Bird Feeder

This feeder has been bandied about the web, so it’s hard to find an origin and whether or not it’s actually for sale anywhere, but it’s very clever.

Gnome Feeder

Finally, we have the gnome. If you have a garden, it’s hard to beat putting up a gnome and this particular one from Kelkay Maxi is holding a nice trough for the birds.
