The lengthy, UV stabilized reservoir holds 3.33 quarts of mixed seed, with 4 ports and a perch ring at its base. This ring has a battery powered rotation that reacts to the weight of a gray squirrel, providing you hours of interesting activity. Once a large squirrel or bird puts its full weight on the perch, an internal motor rotates it, which assists the animal in exiting the feeder. The hardy, die cast metal construction of this base and perch ring matches that of the cap, and the deep green, powder coated finish adds longevity. The snug cap keeps the seed protected from rain, and the powerstick inside the reservoir acts as a diverter, directing feed to the ports. The extra long feeding tube also prevents squirrels from hanging on the lid and grabbing seed, and the clear polycarbonate body keeps feed levels visible. The Yankee Flipper works well to prevent access by grey squirrels; however, red squirrels and chipmunks are not heavy enough to activate the perch ring. If red squirrels are coming to your feeders, we suggest the Yankee Whipper or Yankee Dipper.

It works! I had one at my last house and it provided many hours of “entertainment”. I just bought one for my mom and she loves it. I will soon be buying another one for my own home. The critters just cannot get into this one and gives them a delightful ride!

Six squirrels ate my other brand new bird feeder into pieces. Their are tooth marks over the top of the Flipper, but no holes. My worker said he saw a squirrel get thrown off, hit a tree, and fall unconscious for awhile. I had to recharge it after a week, because the squirrels continued to make it turn and ran the battery down. By the second charging, they learned to leave it alone.
