I had left my brass turtle rain gauge outside last fall. It did not occur to me that water sitting in the glass tube would freeze in cold temperatures and break the glass tube. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened._x000D_

This was a replacement rain gauge and it is fine. The only problem with any in-expensive rain gauge is they will break if forgotten and left out during the winter and water freezes in them. Perhaps that will happen with expensive ones too! I have never had one.
