I purchased the caged feeders to prevent large birds and squirrels from pigging out on the feeders. It worked great for the large birds but if you live where small squirrels roam like the pacific northwest. They will sneak past the cage and feast to their hearts desire. Otherwise, the purchase and feeder is good deal.
